FAQ

WHAT IS THIS ORGANIZATION ABOUT AND WHAT CAUSE DOES IT SUPPORT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY?

The Lime & Learn initiative is a vibrant bridge between Montreal and Trinidad, designed to foster mentorship, provide academic support, and encourage intercultural exchange. Recognizing the differences and potential learning opportunities between the two regions' educational systems and student experiences, this initiative aims to nurture young minds, promote global understanding, and instill a sense of shared community.

WHAT WILL STUDENTS BE DOING?

High School students from Montreal will be paired with students from an elementary boys' school and an elementary girls' school in Trinidad. Beyond just academic support, the partnership is designed to cultivate deep, meaningful relationships. Through regular interactions, Trinidadian students can seek guidance, ask questions, and benefit from a supportive mentor. Simultaneously, Montreal students will gain insight into Trinidadian culture, education, and life experiences. As the initiative progresses, the goal is to strengthen these bonds and encompass more students, solidifying the connection between Montreal and Trinidad.

WHAT LEADERSHIP SKILLS ARE NEEDED?

Cultural sensitivity remains paramount for any potential mentors. In addition, mentors should possess strong communication skills, a dedication to fostering connections, patience, and an empathetic understanding of diverse educational challenges and environments.

HOW EXACTLY HOW WILL THIS OPERATE?

The mentorship will primarily take place through WhatsApp, utilizing video and text communication for flexibility and convenience. After selecting the mentors and mentees, we will conduct individual video sessions with each participant to make the best pairings. Additionally, we'll start the semester with a group meeting to set expectations and goals. Monthly check-ins will be scheduled to gather feedback and ensure the program's ongoing success.
